Is Christianity Really Better on Women than Islam?
by Richelle Bryan
Hello Critical Thinkers!
According to WhyIslam.org and other reports, the fastest growing demographic in Islam are Hispanic women. In fact, the majority of converts to Islam overall in the West are women. With more women in positions of power and influence, the choice to convert to a religion traditionally perceived as oppressive toward them causes some to question: Is Christianity really better on women than Islam?
In this post I will address this question from the following perspectives:
- The treatment of women in Muslim versus Christian majority countries
- The view of women supported by the Quran, Hadiths and the Bible
- The examples of Mohammad and Jesus regarding treatment of women
DID EMPEROR CONSTANTINE INVENT THE DIVINITY OF JESUS?
by Ebenezer Afolabi
The Council of Nicaea asserted that the Son was of one substance with the Father—Jesus was fully divine. Also against the teaching of Eutyches, a monk from Constantinople, who denied that Jesus had two natures, the Council of Chalcedon in AD 451 expressed the Incarnation of Jesus in terms of one person with two natures―human and divine (Hypostatic Union).
Contrary to Dan Brown‘s assertion in “The Da Vinci Code” that Emperor Constantine invented the divinity of Jesus at the Council of Nicaea, the Church Fathers considered Jesus divine long before the Council of Nicaea:
- Ignatius: ―God Himself was manifested in human form (AD 105).
- Clement: ―It is fitting that you should think of Jesus as of God (AD 150).
- Justin Martyr: ―Being the first-begotten Word of God, is even God; Both God and Lord of hosts; The Father of the universe has a Son. And He . . . is even God (AD 160).
- ItemIrenaeus: ―Our Lord, and God, and Savior, and King; He is God, for the name Emmanuel indicates this (AD 180).
- Tertullian: ―Christ our God (AD 200).
- Origen: ―No one should be offended that the Savior is also God (AD 225).
- Novatian: ―He is not only man, but God also (AD 235).
- Cyprian: ―Jesus Christ, our Lord and God (AD 250).
- Methodius: ―He truly was and is . . . with God, and being God(AD 290).
- Lactantius: ―We believe Him to be God (AD 304).
- Arnobius: ―Christ performed all these miracles . . . the duty of Divinity (AD 305).
Legal Apologetics: Principles Of The Law Of Evidence As Applied In The Quest For Religious Truth
By Henry Hock Guan Teh
Is there any exhaustive proof for the existence of God or the claims of a particular faith? If in the sense that such evidence must be 100% beyond a shadow of a doubt with scientific and mathematical certainty, then the answer would be undisputedly and absolutely in the negative. All my non-Christian friends responded with a silent and rendering a blank stare when I asked them, “What do you mean by 100% proof?” or “What are the absolute criteria or circumstances that can fully convince you that Jesus is the way to God?” Often after giving them some time to search their mind, I would interrupt their gawky silence by asking whether they would be 100% sure and convinced as the best evidence if I bring God or Jesus down from heaven now and introduce to them. Almost all of them agreed that there would still be room for doubt.
